Milan, November 10 — In a shocking blow to the fashion industry, Davide Renne, appointed as Jeremy Scott's successor in the creative direction of Moschino less than a month ago, passed away this Friday at the age of 46. Born in Tuscany and a graduate of Polimoda in Florence, Renne dedicated two decades to Gucci's style team before becoming the head designer for the Italian house and recently taking on the challenge at Moschino.
The news of his untimely death has shaken the fashion community, especially considering that his debut collection for Moschino was scheduled to be unveiled in February 2024 during Milan Fashion Week.
Massimo Ferretti, president of the Aeffe group, expressed grief over the sudden loss:
"There are no words to describe the pain we are feeling in this dramatic moment. Davide joined the brand just a few days ago when a sudden illness took him from us too soon. We still cannot believe what has happened. With Davide, we were working on an ambitious project, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism for the future. Even though he was with us for a short time, Davide was immediately loved and respected."
The fashion industry mourns the loss of a promising talent, while Moschino faces a tragic turn in its pursuit of innovation and creative renewal. Davide Renne's legacy will endure as an indelible mark in fashion history.
