On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Miu Miu turned the runway into a bold conversation about femininity, tradition, and subversion. Under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada, the Fall/Winter 2025 collection delved into the symbolic layers of the feminine wardrobe, reinterpreting vintage elements with a contemporary and defiant twist.

The message was clear: to question the role of classic symbols of femininity. “These accessories — pointed bras, fur stoles, brooches — have been passed down for generations. But are they still relevant today? Do they empower us or confine us?” Miuccia pondered moments before the show. The answer unfolded through looks that balanced the traditional with the disruptive, blending nostalgia and modernity with effortless confidence.

Turning the Old into the New

The so-called “grandmother’s closet” aesthetic received an unexpectedly cool update. Retro bras from the 1940s and 50s peeked through fluid slip dresses or subtly emerged beneath oversized coats, while classic ladylike midi skirts shared the spotlight with laid-back sportswear sets — an intriguing clash of eras and styles.

On the feet, worn-in leather loafers — reminiscent of something borrowed from a stylish grandfather — reinforced this cross-generational mood. Embroidered knee-high socks and heavy coats with furry collars, signature elements of Miu Miu, added the brand’s familiar geek-chic charm. Yet, this season, the Miu Miu girl seemed more grown-up — still bold, but with a newfound sophistication that didn’t sacrifice her signature quirkiness.

Diversity and Depth on the Runway

Another standout aspect of the show was its diverse casting, reflecting this new era for the brand. Familiar faces like Sarah Paulson, Laura Harrier, singer Lou Doillon, and trans rapper Cortisa Star walked the runway, challenging the idea of a singular, monolithic version of femininity. Older models also made an appearance, moving away from the youth-centric beauty ideal.

The collection echoed this diversity, offering looks for every version of a woman — from the fashion-forward nerd to the chic secretary, from the rebellious party girl to the powerful businesswoman. What tied it all together was a sense of deliberate oddness, a feeling that each piece carried a hidden meaning — a signature move by Miuccia Prada.

In the end, Miu Miu didn’t just close Paris Fashion Week — it cemented its reputation as a brand that doesn’t simply dress bodies but dresses ideas. The maison’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection is for those who dare to defy labels, celebrate complexity, and, above all, rewrite the rules of femininity.
