Moncler took the fashion world by storm with its latest Moncler Genius event in Shanghai, turning the final night of Fashion Week into an extravagant celebration of creativity. Hosted in a vast 30,000-square-metre warehouse by the Huangpu River, the brand presented a series of immersive experiences, transforming the venue into a “City of Genius.” With stars like Anne Hathaway, Naomi Campbell, and Rihanna in attendance, the event blended high fashion with interactive art, cementing Moncler’s reputation as a pioneer in innovative fashion storytelling.
Each corner of the sprawling space was dedicated to a unique creative vision, with global collaborators bringing their ideas to life. A$AP Rocky created a futuristic ski scene, combining AI-generated visuals with real-life installations in a silver, moto-inspired setting. Palm Angels crafted a retro racetrack, while Jil Sander’s Lucie and Luke Meier presented a dramatic runway show. Other designers and artists, including Donald Glover, Rick Owens, and Willow Smith, contributed dynamic installations that showcased Moncler’s forward-thinking approach to collaboration and design.
The concept behind the “City of Genius” was inspired by a 1960s study that revealed nearly all young children exhibit genius-level creativity, a trait that fades as they grow older. Moncler sought to reignite that youthful spark, using this ambitious project to challenge both the audience and collaborators to reconnect with their childlike sense of wonder and imagination. “The challenge is to keep our internal genius alive,” Moncler noted, reinforcing the central theme of the event.
Since its inception in 2018, Moncler Genius has revolutionized fashion partnerships, working with a diverse roster of designers such as Simone Rocha and Pierpaolo Piccioli. This latest iteration in Shanghai pushed the boundaries even further, offering a multisensory experience that blended fashion with performance, art, and technology, all in a single, unforgettable evening.
With the success of the Shanghai show, Moncler continues to redefine the fashion landscape, proving once again that innovation and collaboration are at the core of its creative DNA.
