Stars Shine at LA28 Handover Ceremony with Unforgettable Performances

The handover celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympics to LA28 was marked by an impressive musical spectacle, bringing together some of the biggest names in contemporary music. On Sunday, August 11th, following the Closing Ceremony in Paris, renowned artists like Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg took the stage to officially kick off the countdown to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Billie Eilish, the Grammy and Oscar-winning sensation, captivated the audience with her powerful voice and unmistakable style, delivering an energetic and unique performance. She was joined by the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers, a band that has left an indelible mark on rock history, proving once again why they are considered music icons. Snoop Dogg, one of the greatest representatives of West Coast rap, also delivered an unforgettable performance, celebrating his Southern California roots and highlighting the vibrant spirit of Los Angeles.

In addition to the electrifying performances, the multi-talented artist H.E.R., who has won Grammy, Oscar, and Emmy awards, moved everyone with her live rendition of the U.S. national anthem, directly from Paris. Her talent and passion added a solemn and meaningful touch to the event, reinforcing the connection between the two host cities.

The ceremony was more than just a musical showcase; it was also a significant milestone on the road to LA28. Casey Wasserman, chairman of LA28, emphasized the importance of the moment: "This is the biggest moment in LA28’s history to date, as the Olympic flag passes from Paris to Los Angeles. The event also featured the illustrious presence of tennis champion Venus Williams, who hosted the "Countdown to LA28." The legendary athlete brought her passion and charisma to the event, helping to create an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement for what promises to be one of the most memorable editions of the Olympic Games.
