YSL Beauté: Commitment to Education and Combating Intimate Partner Violence by 2030

Since its inception, YSL Beauté has placed women's freedom at its core. The brand celebrates the freedom to be, to think, and to express opinions. However, intimate partner violence threatens this freedom and the safety of many women. Unfortunately, abusive behaviors are still often wrongly justified as "love."

Intimate Partner Violence: Understanding the Issue

Intimate partner violence (IPV) can take many forms: physical, psychological, economic, or cyber. Regardless of the type, all these forms of violence share a common thread: the desire for control within an intimate relationship, whether current or past. Research indicates that early detection of warning signs is crucial for intervention and support for victims.

Since launching the "Love Without Abuse" program in 2020, YSL Beauté has made significant strides in raising awareness about abusive relationships, reaching over 100,000 young people and supporting local organizations. By focusing on young people between the ages of 16 and 24, the brand acknowledges the vulnerability of this group to intimate partner violence.

Ambitious Goal for 2030

Through the global "Abuse is Not Love" program, YSL Beauté has set a goal to educate two million people worldwide about intimate partner violence by 2030. This initiative involves collaboration with local NGOs in 17 countries across four continents. Additionally, the brand is launching a new online training tool to provide resources and support for those in abusive relationships, as well as tools for those who wish to become allies.

Research and Support for the LGBTQIAPN+ Community

Recognizing the need to understand the extent of IPV within the LGBTQIAPN+ community, YSL Beauté commissioned a global survey last year. Conducted in five countries with 6,000 respondents, the survey revealed alarming data about the prevalence and impact of IPV in same-sex relationships:

- 31% of respondents reported being victims of IPV.

- 55% agree that the LGBTQ+ community is less supported compared to other communities.

- 37% feel a lack of media representation regarding IPV cases in the LGBTQIAPN+ community.

These findings highlight how the LGBTQIAPN+ community is often rendered invisible, exacerbating the issue of intimate partner violence within this population. YSL Beauté, aware of this reality, emphasizes the importance of raising awareness and educating about the issue, seeking to provide support and visibility for these concerns.

Initiatives and Partnerships

YSL Beauté continues to expand its initiatives, including new partnerships with NGOs and the development of educational tools. The brand's commitment to women's freedom and the safety of all individuals in intimate relationships sets a powerful example of how companies can use their influence to drive significant social change.

With the goal of educating two million people by 2030, YSL Beauté is not only combating intimate partner violence but also promoting a future where the freedom and safety of everyone in intimate relationships are assured.
